Police investigating an attempted killing in Nokia on Midsummer have revised their initial assessment of the weapon used, Yle reports.

A woman, approximately 50 years old, is suspected of striking an adult man in the head with an object at a private residence in the Linnavuori area. While police initially stated the weapon was an axe, rikoskomisario Maijastiina Tammisto now says the suspect was seen in possession of an axe, but the actual weapon remains unconfirmed.

The victim and the suspect knew each other. The assault occurred indoors with no other individuals present. Authorities received a report around 15:00 and apprehended the woman outside the residence. The injured man was hospitalised but did not sustain life-threatening injuries.

The motive remains unclear, and charges may change as the investigation progresses. The suspect is in custody and was to be questioned for the first time on Monday.
