A low-pressure system with rain showers and thunderstorms may disrupt Norway’s World Cup match against Senegal at MetLife Stadium early Tuesday, according to Dagbladet.

The pitch at the New Jersey venue has already drawn criticism, described as hard, dry, uneven, and “worse than artificial turf.” Norway manager Ståle Solbakken previously complained about the “bone-dry” conditions during the team’s opening match in Boston.

Meteorologist Charalampos Sarchosidis of the Norwegian Meteorological Institute warned of persistent shower activity and low pressure in the area. While the match may not be wet throughout, both rain and thunder pose a risk during the game. Local rules state play must halt if lightning is detected within 13 kilometers of the stadium, resuming only after 30 minutes without further strikes.

Temperatures in New Jersey are expected between 20–24°C with high humidity. Meanwhile, Norway’s southeast—including the Oslofjord region—will see clear skies and mild nighttime temperatures around 18°C, ideal for outdoor viewing. Northern and central Norway face cooler, wetter conditions, with temperatures as low as 7–10°C and scattered showers.
