Authorities in Nilsiä, eastern Finland, will resume the search on Sunday for a young man who disappeared underwater in Lake Tahko on Midsummer Day, Itä-Suomen poliisi confirmed.
The operation is currently paused and will continue once conditions calm, allowing the rescue dog to work without disturbance. The search may extend late into the evening if needed.
Investigators are using a boat, with the dog tracking by scent for any signs of the missing man. Police said a patrol present at the scene on Saturday did not observe the man submerge, but initial reports provided sufficient cause to launch the search.
On Saturday, police and rescue divers spent several hours searching with boats, a water jet, sonar, and a drone.
