Nordea Foundation grants funding to Drivið community centre

The Nordea Foundation has approved a grant of 4,283,921 DKK to support the construction of Drivið, a new community centre in Hvannasundi, Faroe Islands, according to a report by Kringvarp Føroya.
The project, located at the harbour in Hvannasundi, will serve as a hub for sports, culture, and volunteer activities. The facility will include spaces for rowing, motor sports, and recreational activities such as kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, and sea swimming, as well as dedicated areas for divers, scuba divers, climbers, and hikers.
The total cost of the project is estimated at 18.7 million DKK. The Nordea Foundation’s contribution covers 4 million DKK for construction and 283,921 DKK for new leisure equipment. Additional funding includes 6.2 million DKK from the Local and Construction Fund (LOA) and 4.6 million DKK from Hvannasundi municipality.
The initiative is led by Norðdepils- og Hvannasunds Róðrarfelag (North Pile and Hvannasundi Rowing Association) and Norðoya Motorsavn (North Island Motor Club).
