Person dies after fall into Oslo lake

A person has died after falling into Nøklevann lake in Oslo, police report.

Emergency services responded to the scene in Østmarka shortly after 05:00 on Friday morning following reports of the incident. Fire department divers retrieved the individual from the water, and life-saving first aid was administered at the site, according to Dagbladet.

“The person was taken to hospital in critical condition,” operations manager Bjarne Pedersen told the newspaper. The victim later succumbed to their injuries.

Next of kin have been notified, police confirmed to TV 2. Authorities currently view the death as accidental but are investigating multiple hypotheses. Forensic teams are examining the scene and conducting witness interviews, operations manager Thomas Pedersen Enger stated in the police log.

“Nothing so far indicates criminal activity,” he added.
