US Army secretary to visit Finland, meet defence minister in Mikkeli
US Army Secretary Daniel P. Driscoll will make a working visit to Finland on 18–19 June, Yle reports.
Driscoll is scheduled to meet Finnish Defence Minister Antti Häkkänen in Mikkeli on Friday, 19 June. The two will discuss bilateral defence cooperation, current NATO issues, regional security, and joint exercises.
“We have been actively deepening defence cooperation between Finland and the United States, and we will continue to do so. The DCA agreement between our countries demonstrates the US commitment to Finland’s security and creates the conditions for cooperation in crisis situations,” Häkkänen said in a statement.
During the visit, Driscoll will also meet with Finnish Defence Forces leadership and familiarise himself with Finland’s defence industry. The Defence Ministry is hosting the visit. Driscoll is also set to meet the president of the republic.
