Blue-green algae has been observed in inland waters this week at levels higher than typical for this time of year, according to Yle. However, no extremely dense blooms have been recorded.

Abundant algae has been detected at six monitoring sites in Uusimaa, Pirkanmaa, and South Savo. On coastal observation points, conditions appear calmer than average for the season, with no reports of dense or extremely dense blooms.

The blue-green algae situation is monitored weekly at around 300 observation sites. Conditions can change rapidly, even within hours. Authorities advise checking for algae before swimming or using water.
