Sweden’s national weather agency SMHI has issued a yellow warning for severe thunderstorms and heavy rain across much of southern Sweden on Midsummer Day, according to a report by SVT.

The warning, currently broad and covering the period from 08:00 to 23:00, may be refined with more precise timing and location details by Friday, said SVT meteorologist Leon Lee.

A cold front is expected to move from west to east on Midsummer Day, bringing temperatures above 20°C in many areas but also the risk of thunderstorms. Midsummer Eve, however, is forecast to remain largely dry nationwide.

By Sunday, the low-pressure system is expected to clear, with sunny and warm conditions returning in many regions.
