Seven municipalities in the Faroe Islands’ Norðoyggjar and Eysturoy regions have signed a cooperation agreement on integration, Kringvarp Føroya reports.

The municipalities—Klaksvík, Eystur, Fuglafjørður, Kunoy, Hvannasund, Viðareiði, and Fugloy—are required by national integration law to each appoint an integration coordinator by 1 July.

Sóley Sjúrðaberg began work on 1 May as the shared integration coordinator for the seven municipalities, which together have a population of 10,500. The coordinator’s role is to guide, assist, and direct residents to opportunities and services, working with local authorities to ensure people thrive and participate in society.
