The Faroese housing agency Bústaðir will first determine the cost of renovating Skúlaheimið in Tórshavn before deciding whether to take over its operation, according to a report by Kringvarp Føroya.

Jógvan Ósá, director of Bústaðir, confirmed the agency received an inquiry this spring from the management of Glasir—which currently runs the facility—about transferring operations. Glasir has indicated it wants to relinquish responsibility for Skúlaheimið.

Earlier this year, Glasir announced plans to raise the rent for the building in August and again in January 2027, but Bárður á Lakjuni, the Faroese minister of education, halted those increases. A working group is now set to present recommendations in September on the future of the Skúlaheimið building.
