King Frederik on Wednesday inaugurated the perimeter of Lynetteholm, the future Copenhagen district, marking the completion of its outer ring, Danish broadcaster DR reports.
The king, operating from an excavator, placed the final stones on the structure, which will also serve as flood protection for the capital.
By August, the public will be able to walk the full circuit around the new district, set to rise on what is currently open water.
