The Southeastern Finland Border Guard is currently engaged in the culling of a pack of wild dogs near Rajapatsas in Imatra. The police granted permission for this action to ensure the safety of local residents, as the wild dogs have exhibited threatening behavior in recent days. Reports indicate that the dogs have approached people and inhabited areas, creating concerns for the safety of those living close to the border.

Authorities emphasize that this situation poses no danger to bystanders. This is not the first incident of its kind in Imatra; wild dogs have been spotted in the area multiple times over the past few years. Typically, these dogs have crossed from Russia, located just across the eastern border. For instance, in July of last year, the police received several reports of a wild dog pack in Imatra, with observations indicating that they attempted to attack pet rabbits and dogs during that time.

In February 2019, multiple sightings were reported of wild dog packs roaming the streets of Imatra throughout the month, usually comprising around 7 to 8 dogs per group. As authorities address the ongoing situation, updates are expected.
