The Faroese High Court has upheld the acquittal of a man accused of electoral fraud in the 2024 municipal elections in Oyndarfjørður, reports Kringvarp Føroya.
Judges in the Eastern High Court unanimously ruled that the prosecution had failed to meet the burden of proof, affirming the earlier verdict from the Faroese Court. The case is now closed, as the prosecution cannot appeal such rulings, according to chief prosecutor Katrin Thorsvig Hansen, who had no further comment on the decision.
The accused welcomed the High Court’s decision but declined to comment further.
