Norway erupted in celebration as Erling Braut Haaland scored twice against Iraq in their World Cup opener, sparking wild scenes from Oslo to Bryne, Dagbladet reports.

Fans at pubs and watch parties roared as Haaland put Norway ahead, only to fall silent moments later when Iraq equalised. The despair was short-lived—Haaland struck again, restoring Norway’s lead before halftime.

Oslo police reported no disturbances as thousands gathered across the country to watch the match. Operations leader Roy Langengen urged supporters to enjoy the game and treat each other with respect.

Analysts criticised Iraqi goalkeeper Jalal Hassan Hachim for a costly error on Haaland’s second goal, with BBC pundit Stephen Warnock calling it a “huge mistake” under pressure from the Norwegian striker.
