Man suspected of shoplifting and biting store employee in Espoo

Police in Espoo are investigating a man and a woman suspected of shoplifting from a grocery store on Sunday, June 14, 2026, Yle reports.

The pair allegedly concealed items in the woman’s clothing, purchased a few products at the checkout, and left without paying for the hidden goods. When a store employee attempted to stop them, a struggle ensued, during which the man allegedly bit the employee on the upper body.

By the time officers arrived, the suspects had fled in a car. Police later located the vehicle parked outside a residence where the suspects were staying. Authorities also found property believed to be stolen inside the home.

The man and woman were taken into custody and transported to Espoo’s main police station.
