Police suspect second youth in Espoo house fire

Police suspect a second youth is connected to a fire that destroyed a detached house in Espoo’s Säteri district, Yle reports.

The fire, which occurred on 11 June, completely destroyed the unoccupied wartime-era house on Linnoitustie, located between Ring Road I and Turunväylä, about 500 metres south of Leppävaara centre.

Authorities believe the fire was deliberately set. A second suspect, a male over 15, was apprehended near the scene and is accused of arson. Police say the two suspects know each other.

Investigators are examining possible motives and the exact sequence of events. The fire caused temporary smoke disruption in the surrounding area.
