The Faroese Teachers’ Union has been in protracted pay negotiations with the Ministry of Finance, with the latest meeting held immediately after the March general election, according to union chair Jacob Eli S. Olsen.

No further talks are currently scheduled, Olsen told Kringvarp Føroya. Asked whether the union would accept a government-imposed settlement, he replied: “We have not prepared ourselves for a state mandate. Our negotiations are our negotiations. That is the starting point.”
