Six candidates have applied for the position of department head at Sernám, the Faroese adult education centre, according to a report by Skúlablaðið.
The role was opened for applications earlier this year, following Sernám’s transition from an independent institution to a department under the Ministry of Education on 1 June. The successful candidate will lead the new division and join the ministry’s management team.
The job description seeks a forward-thinking and enthusiastic leader to develop strategy, culture, and collaboration. Responsibilities include expanding the centre’s physical capacity and strengthening ties with the national education and counselling services.
The Ministry of Education will now comprise three specialist departments: one for culture, language, and arts; one for development, ethics, and services; and the newly formed adult education division. The appointment takes effect on 1 August.
