Three men convicted in Hamar plastic bag killing
Three men have been convicted for their roles in the February 2025 killing of Heidi Sagen (58), who was suffocated with a plastic bag in her Hamar home, Dagbladet reports, citing Hamar Arbeiderblad as the first to cover the verdict.
A man in his 40s received a 16-year prison sentence for the murder. He told the court he and two others went to Sagen’s home believing she had stolen from them. They threatened her with a knife, taped her hands and feet, and placed her on the floor. After a period of violence, he fetched a plastic bag from the kitchen and pulled it over her head, stating, “I suffocate her, unfortunately.”
A second man was sentenced to seven years of preventive detention, with a minimum of four years and six months, for aggravated robbery resulting in death. A third received one year and six months in prison for complicity in the aggravated robbery.
The first man’s defence lawyer, Ole Magnus Strømmen, called the ruling positive for his client, noting the priority was avoiding preventive detention. The other two defendants denied criminal liability. Their lawyers, Helge Hartz and Sol Elden, have not yet decided on appealing or commented, respectively.
The court heard the victim and the accused were part of Hamar’s drug milieu, with the convicted murderer stating he knew Sagen through narcotics sales before a conflict arose.
