Police in Kajaani have identified three suspected victims in an abuse case involving residents of a disability care unit, local public broadcaster Yle reports.
Four employees of the Rajamiehentie residential unit are suspected of coercion, assault, dereliction of duty, and defamation. The pre-trial investigation is nearing completion, with interrogations and evidence collection finished, according to lead investigator Kimmo Tuulenkari.
The case emerged in early May after the Kainuu well-being services county contacted police over allegations of staff misconduct toward residents at the round-the-clock facility. Authorities have not disclosed further details of the incidents.
