A construction scaffolding collapsed at a worksite in Lappeenranta’s Lauritsala district on Monday morning, sending three workers to hospital, Yle reports.

The incident occurred at the construction site of a K-Supermarket Lehmus on Standertskjöldinkatu. Four workers were on the scaffolding when it fell. Rescue services assisted one worker in escaping the scene.

According to Timo Tahvanainen, duty fire chief at the South Karelia Rescue Department, the fall height was four to five metres. One worker managed to grab a doorknob before the collapse, leaving only three to fall with the structure. No one was trapped under the scaffolding.

While no serious injuries were reported, three workers were taken to the central hospital for examination. Police are investigating the workplace accident.
