The Faroese Meteorological Office has added a UV index to its website, the national broadcaster KVF reports.
While the Faroe Islands are cooler in summer than many southern regions, UV radiation levels can still be just as high, according to meteorologist Hanus Kjølbro.
Kjølbro noted that good weather and stable conditions increase the likelihood of sun exposure, which many enjoy. However, he stressed the importance of moderation and protection against harmful ultraviolet rays, which can be as damaging in the Faroes as in sunnier climates.
The UV index is now available on the weather service’s homepage.
