Man dies in wheel loader accident in Aure
Robert Nordvik, a 58-year-old group leader for the Progress Party in Kristiansund and a city council representative, died in a wheel loader accident in Aure on Saturday, Dagbladet reports.
Police in Møre og Romsdal confirmed that a wheel loader overturned on private property at 13:10. The driver, a man in his late 50s from Kristiansund, was trapped under the vehicle and died at the scene. Next of kin have been notified, and police have conducted on-site investigations.
Kristiansund mayor Kjell Neergaard told Dagbladet the death has deeply affected the local political community. All parties have decided to withdraw from Sunday’s “Folkefest i Folkeparken” event in the city. The mayor expressed condolences to Nordvik’s family from the stage, describing the mood among politicians as somber.
Hans Olav Myklebust, the Progress Party’s county leader in Møre og Romsdal, called the incident a tragedy and extended condolences to the family. He noted Nordvik had been an active politician in Kristiansund for many years, advocating for both the city and the party.
