Finnair plane damaged by stair car in Lisbon, passengers stranded overnight
A Finnair aircraft was damaged in Lisbon on Friday afternoon when a stair car struck the plane, Finnish broadcaster Yle reports.
Mechanics inspected the damage, leaving passengers waiting aboard the aircraft for about three hours, according to Yle’s correspondent in Lisbon. The flight, scheduled to depart at 4:30 p.m. local time, was ultimately cancelled for the day.
Finnair’s communications director, Päivyt Tallqvist, called the situation regrettable but emphasized that safety took priority. Passengers were accommodated overnight in Lisbon, with alternative flights to Finland being arranged.
