Rain expected to increase across Finland with cooler temperatures in Lapland
Rain is expected to become more common over the next couple of days, according to meteorologist Juha Jantunen from the Finnish Meteorological Institute. “At best, we can talk about intermittent rain, but that doesn’t mean the sun won’t shine through at times during the day,” he stated. Northernmost Lapland may avoid rain altogether.
Temperatures are forecasted to be cooler than last week. Only in the far north of Lapland and on the southern coast of Finland might temperatures rise to 20 degrees Celsius today. Elsewhere in the country, temperatures will range from 15 to 19 degrees. The coolest conditions are anticipated in southern Lapland and Koillisma, where the mercury could remain around 13 degrees.
The weather is expected to remain unstable throughout the week, with summer thunderstorms becoming more frequent again. “The further we get into the week, the better the chances that the sun will make an appearance,” Jantunen added. Beginning Friday, conditions in Lapland are expected to improve, with rain showers concentrating in the southern and central parts of the country.
By the weekend, temperatures are likely to rise, reaching between 20 and 24 degrees in most areas. Jantunen noted that rainfall might subside early next week.
