Marius Borg Høiby to hear verdict via video link
Marius Borg Høiby will not appear in person at Oslo District Court on Monday for the verdict in his trial, Dagbladet reports. Instead, he will follow the proceedings via video link due to documented health reasons, the court confirmed.
His defence lawyer Ellen Holger Andenæs acknowledged the arrangement, citing medical grounds, but declined further comment.
The 29-year-old, step-son of Norway’s Crown Princess, faced 40 charges including four counts of rape, domestic violence, assault, property damage, violation of a restraining order, and a drug offence. He has admitted to some of the allegations but denies the most serious charges, including all rape accusations and domestic violence against Nora Haukland (28).
Prosecutors have sought seven years and seven months in prison. The defence has requested acquittal on 15 of the 40 charges, including the four rape counts and the domestic violence charge, and argued that Høiby should pay no compensation. The alleged victims have claimed 1.9 million kroner in damages.
In closing arguments, prosecutor Sturla Henriksbø highlighted three recurring patterns in Høiby’s behaviour: disregard for norms and rules, a tendency to act without consent, and a history of anger issues and jealousy, particularly when intoxicated. Henriksbø stated that the court had sufficient evidence, including victim testimonies and videos, to secure convictions on 39 of the 40 charges.
The trial concluded nearly three months ago, with the verdict scheduled for 08:30 on Monday.
