Union lifts boycott on Lapland safari operator
The Service Union United (PAM) has ended its hiring freeze against Nordic Unique Travels (NUT), a Lapland-based safari operator, after the company committed to complying with Finnish law and the sector’s collective agreement.
PAM had imposed the boycott in May, accusing NUT of repeatedly and knowingly violating the tourism sector’s collective agreement over several years. The union had urged its members not to seek employment with the company.
The freeze was lifted following an agreement between PAM and Mara, the employers’ association representing NUT. Under the deal, NUT must resolve all outstanding disputes, pay any unpaid wages owed to employees, and cease what PAM described as anti-union activities.
NUT’s main office is in Rovaniemi.
