The cost of installing fibre-optic connections in Faroese homes has risen to 30,000 krónur, up from an original estimate of under 20,000 krónur, according to Faroese telecom association Føroya Tele-samtakið.
The association, overseeing the “Fibre to the Home” project, now says the work and expenses must be reviewed. So far, around 270 million krónur have been spent, with approximately 10,900 fibre cables laid to households and businesses.
Páll H. Vesturbú, director at Neti, discussed the project in a recent television interview.
