An adult and a child who drowned in Raasepori on Monday were not swimming at the location, police said in a statement on Tuesday.

The bodies were found in the water at the Västerby outdoor recreation area around 22:00 on Monday, about two hours after they were reported missing. The site is not a designated swimming area, according to police.

The victims were an adult and a pre-school-aged child, believed to be related. Authorities are investigating the incident as a fatal accident, with no suspicion of foul play.

Västerby outdoor recreation area is located about five kilometres from the centre of Tammisaari in Raasepori.
