1.5-year-old dies after being trapped under car in Perho

A 1.5-year-old child died in Perho after being trapped under a car in their home yard on 1 June, according to emergency services.
The emergency response centre dispatched the first unit, a paramedic-level ambulance, to the family’s home at 17:24. It arrived at 17:33, nine minutes later. A paramedic-level unit is defined as an ambulance or other emergency vehicle staffed by at least one nurse or equivalent healthcare professional.
The Finnhems medical helicopter, called from Seinäjoki, reached the scene at 18:01, half an hour after the initial call. The distance from Seinäjoki to Perho by road is about 130 kilometres.
In total, two emergency medical units and a field command unit were dispatched, with two rescue service units assisting. An emergency doctor treated the child at the scene before the helicopter transported them to Tampere University Hospital for further care, accompanied by the emergency physician.
The Central Ostrobothnia wellbeing services county, Soite, has offered crisis support to the family.
