Police in Häme are investigating after someone deliberately set fires inside two abandoned houses in Heinola’s Sinilähde district, Yle reports.

The houses, located on Perosentie and Karjalankatu in a detached housing area, are about 200 metres apart. Authorities believe the fires were set between 8–9 June, with emergency calls about smoke coming from the buildings made on Monday morning.

Firefighters extinguished the smouldering blazes, limiting damage. “With dry conditions like these, there’s always a risk of fires spreading,” said Jari Vainioranta, a crime sergeant with Häme Police.

Police are treating the incidents as cases of deliberate damage and are seeking witness accounts or tips on potential suspects.
