A three-day appeal hearing in the Faroese High Court will begin on 22 June in the case of a 28 April 2024 assault in Sandá, KVF reports.

A 36-year-old Polish man was sentenced on 25 March to preventive detention and deportation from the Faroe Islands for the attack. He was also ordered to pay over 200,000 DKK in compensation for damages and lost earnings. The man denies the charges.

The original trial in the Faroese Court lasted one week. The verdict was immediately appealed to the High Court, which has allocated three days for the case. The defendant remains in pretrial custody in Denmark.
