The foundations of the Streymin bridge in the Faroe Islands are in poor condition, as they were not properly maintained, Faroese public broadcaster KVF reports.

Engineers are currently conducting detailed inspections of the underside of the bridge, which is scheduled for major renovation next year. The inspection results are expected to be released in August.

The renovation of the concrete foundations is estimated to take about two years and cost approximately 45 million Danish kroner. The Faroese government has allocated 22 million kroner in this yearโ€™s budget and plans to set aside 23 million kroner in the 2027 budget for the project.
