Turku man admits to murder after keeping body on balcony for over two months
A 43-year-old man has confessed to murder after storing the victim’s body on his apartment balcony in Turku’s Varissuo district for more than two months, Southwest Finland Police confirmed Wednesday.
The investigation has been completed and forwarded to prosecutors for charging. Police discovered the 44-year-old victim on April 20 after he was reported missing in early March, with his last confirmed sighting at a private residence in Varissuo on February 4.
According to investigators, the suspect and victim argued before the suspect struck the victim with a heavy hammer, killing him inside the apartment. The suspect then kept the body on the balcony for over 75 days while continuing to live in the unit.
The suspect was detained in April on suspicion of murder. Finnish public broadcaster Yle reports he has prior convictions for theft, drug offenses, and assault.
