The rescue boat Kobbi Láka from Bolungarvík is expected to arrive at the port of Ísafjörður shortly, towing a disabled vessel along with its twelve passengers. The captain of the boat contacted the Coast Guard this morning to request assistance after the vessel’s gear had broken down. At that time, the boat was located about five kilometers north of Straumnes on Hornstrandir, according to a statement from the Icelandic Search and Rescue organization Landsbjörg.
The rescue boat proceeded towards the troubled vessel and reached it after approximately an hour of sailing from Bolungarvík, around eleven o’clock this morning. The crew estimated that they would arrive at the port of Ísafjörður around three o’clock this afternoon.
