Moped rider killed in Lappeenranta collision

A 17-year-old moped rider died Monday evening after a car struck them from behind on Terminaalinkatu in Lappeenranta, according to a report by Finnish public broadcaster Yle.

The crash occurred around 9 p.m. on a straight section of the road. The moped rider was pronounced dead at the scene. The car’s driver and passenger were uninjured.

South-Eastern Finland Police are investigating the incident as a suspected case of aggravated endangerment of traffic safety, aggravated vehicular homicide, and a fatality inquiry.
