Finnish police confirmed Tuesday that a bomb threat called in to Sairaala Nova hospital in Jyväskylä was unfounded after officers conducted a search of the premises with staff assistance.

The Central Finland Police Department received a report early Tuesday indicating a possible explosive device at the hospital, according to an official statement. Authorities swept the facility but found no evidence of a threat.

Investigators have opened a probe into the incident under suspicion of filing a false alarm, a criminal offense under Finnish law.
