Electricity use in road transport surged over 40% last year
Electricity consumption in Finnish road transport rose by more than 40% in 2025 compared to the previous year, according to preliminary data from Statistics Finland.
Overall energy use in road transport fell by 3% over the same period, the agency reported. Diesel consumption dropped by 5%, while petrol use declined by 1%. Liquid biofuels accounted for 16% of road transport energy sources, up four percentage points from the prior year.
