Finnair is negotiating with SpaceX and Amazon to provide in-flight wifi on its aircraft, Bloomberg reported Saturday.
The Finnish carrier plans to select a service provider by the end of this year, though CEO Turkka Kuusisto told the news agency it is too early to say when a final decision will be announced. He confirmed the airline is in discussions with all potential providers.
Kuusisto also noted that while Finnair’s fuel reserves for the summer season are secure, a prolonged conflict in Iran could increase the risk of operational disruptions.
Several major airlines, including Germany’s Lufthansa and the UAE’s Emirates, have already chosen SpaceX’s Starlink system for in-flight connectivity. In contrast, US-based Delta Airlines has opted for Amazon’s service. Finnair currently offers internet access through its Nordic Sky portal.
