All 5,100 employees at Aalborg University Hospital can now monitor the status of persistent technical issues through a new internal portal, hospital management announced Friday following criticism over poor communication of the problems.
Since the newly built hospital opened, staff have reported malfunctioning alarms, blinds, ventilation systems, and emergency call cords, DR reports. Hospital director Lars Dahl Pedersen acknowledged that employees had not received sufficient updates on efforts to resolve the failures.
“This portal will show the plan for each issue and when we expect it to be fixed,” Pedersen said. Staff can also report new problems directly through the system, ensuring concerns reach the correct department.
Christina Windau Hay Lund, chair of the Danish Nurses’ Organisation’s North Jutland branch, welcomed the move but said delays in addressing failures had been a “major problem from the start.”
“When staff flagged issues, they weren’t told who was responsible, when it would be fixed, or what to do in the meantime,” she said. The new system, she added, should help leadership “act faster” on unresolved problems.
