An old sheep bridge in Sandvík, built in 1974 to transport livestock to grazing land twice a year, has become an unlikely tourist attraction despite its dilapidated state and a sheer 38-metre drop, Faroese broadcaster KVF reports.
The bridge, located in Rituskorð, was never intended for public use, but landowner Bárður Wilumsen told KVF he now regularly encounters visitors drawn to the structure. “I meet many tourists in the area,” he said, adding that he is concerned by the trend.
The bridge’s condition has deteriorated significantly since its construction over four decades ago, yet its remote coastal setting and dramatic surroundings continue to attract sightseers.
