Train conductor assaulted on Helsinki–Tampere route

A passenger is suspected of strangling a train conductor during an altercation aboard a Helsinki–Tampere service near Lempäälä early Friday, Central Finland Police report.

The incident began after midnight when the conductor approached a male passenger who was behaving aggressively. The conductor contacted emergency services, but the man allegedly grabbed the phone and placed the conductor in a chokehold, according to police.

Fellow passengers intervened, allowing the train to continue to Tampere, where officers arrested the suspect. Authorities are investigating the case as assault.
