A driver was seriously injured early Friday morning when their car left the road and overturned near Buvika, southwest of Trondheim, following a brief police pursuit, Dagbladet reports.
Emergency services, including an air ambulance, responded to the single-vehicle crash at approximately 1:33 a.m. The road was closed at Brekka following the incident, according to the Norwegian Public Roads Administration.
Police confirmed they had observed the vehicle and initiated a short pursuit before terminating it shortly before the crash. “There is nothing to indicate this was a high-speed chase,” operations leader Kristine Stølen told Adresseavisen. The driver, the sole occupant, was transported to hospital, though the extent of their injuries remains unclear.
Norway’s Special Unit, which investigates police-related incidents, has been notified as standard procedure.
