The suspected murder of a postal worker in Myyrmäki, Vantaa, remains under active investigation by the National Bureau of Investigation (KRP). A young woman, who worked as a morning postal carrier for Helsingin Sanomat, became a victim of severe violence on November 17, 2022. The incident occurred in the early morning in front of Myyrmäentie 6 D, and the woman later died from her injuries in the hospital.

Investigating officer Olli Töyräs emphasized that the case is not stagnant but is being actively worked on. He mentioned that the KRP has received a few tips over the summer that have been followed up on. Töyräs did not disclose whether any suspects have been identified but acknowledged that certain individuals of interest are being monitored.

The investigation is characterized by what Töyräs calls “quiet diligence.” He expressed optimism that the crime will eventually be solved. “My main message at this stage is that the case is actively under investigation, efforts are being made, and tips are welcome. All information and thoughts are important to us, and will be treated confidentially.”

Tips can be sent to the KRP’s tip email at [email protected]. Previous reports indicated that the perpetrator fled towards Louhela train station, and the police noted the suspect was dressed in black clothing.

Two men had previously been suspected in connection with the crime. The first suspect was arrested on the night of the incident and subsequently remanded by the district court, but was released days later as he was no longer considered connected to the crime. The second suspect voluntarily approached the police; however, his confession was based on information from the media and did not connect him to the homicide based on interrogations or technical evidence.
