Sweden Democrats member resigns after investigation into “particularly egregious” child abuse film

A former Sweden Democrats (SD) party member under investigation for child pornography offences is suspected of possessing material deemed “particularly egregious,” Swedish public broadcaster SVT reports.

The case emerged after a tip from the US-based National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC), which flagged video material to Swedish authorities. The organisation classified the content as especially severe, prompting the police investigation.

The suspect, who held multiple senior roles within SD, has since resigned from all party positions and been expelled. The police probe centres on “child pornography offences at an unknown location in Sweden,” according to earlier SVT reporting.
