Driver critically injured after head-on collision with truck in Holmestrand

A car driver is in critical condition following a collision with a truck in Holmestrand, police in the Sør-Øst district confirmed Wednesday.

The crash occurred when the car reportedly crossed into oncoming traffic and struck the truck head-on, according to preliminary findings at the scene. Emergency responders found the car driver trapped in the vehicle upon arrival.

The injured driver was airlifted by medical helicopter to Ullevål Hospital in Oslo with life-threatening injuries. The truck driver was taken to a local urgent care centre for evaluation.

Police have closed the road indefinitely, advising motorists to find alternate routes. The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
