Northern Norway faces 25°C heatwave while southern regions see no summer relief
Temperatures in northern Norway could reach 25°C this week, with eastern Finnmark expecting the highest readings on Friday and Saturday, according to the Norwegian Meteorological Institute.
Espen Biseth Granan, duty meteorologist, told Dagbladet that warm air from Finland, driven by southerly winds, will push summer temperatures across Nordland, Troms, and Finnmark—with coastal areas exceeding 20°C. Central Norway will also see temperatures above 20°C midweek, while western regions like Bergen may record their first summer day of the year on Wednesday.
Southern and eastern Norway, however, will see no such warmth. Oslo and surrounding areas face persistent rain and overcast skies, with temperatures likely staying below 20°C into next week. “There’s no sign of proper heat or sunshine for southern Norway anytime soon,” Biseth Granan said.
A wildfire warning remains in effect for parts of Finnmark due to dry, warm conditions, with meteorologists advising caution with open flames until significant rainfall arrives.
