Child critically injured after parent reverses van in Perho

A 1.5-year-old child was seriously injured Monday evening in Perho, Central Ostrobothnia, after being struck by a van driven in reverse by a parent, public broadcaster Yle reports.

The incident occurred as the parent was moving the vehicle within a residential yard. The child was trapped beneath the van and sustained critical injuries, prompting emergency transport by helicopter to a hospital for further treatment.

Police are investigating the circumstances of the accident.
