Vestas chief executive Henrik Andersen has urged Danish authorities to shift decision-making on wind and solar projects from local councils to central government, arguing that local resistance is stalling the green transition.

Speaking in an interview with DR’s Deadline programme, Andersen acknowledged widespread public protests against wind turbines and solar farms but insisted that national energy targets should take precedence over local objections. “These decisions need to be made at a higher level,” he said.

The call comes as Denmark faces growing opposition to renewable energy infrastructure, with residents in multiple regions challenging planned developments in their areas.
