The Icelandic Seamen’s Union has reached a deal with Faroe Ship, ending a strike that grounded three vessels, Faroese public broadcaster KVF reported Saturday.

The walkout began Monday after the union accused Icelandic shipping firms of replacing local crews with cheaper foreign labor. Faroe Ship and competitor Eimskip had both confirmed their affected ships operated under Icelandic wage agreements.

Steinar Eirikstoft, Faroe Ship’s managing director, told KVF earlier this week that the strike had minimal impact on Faroese operations. The company will now work to return the idle vessels—including the Dettifoss—to service, though delays are expected into next week.
